Terms of use

Studea reads your child's school portal and tells you the things it judges worth knowing: work that has stopped arriving, a grade that has really moved, and a term about to close. Most weeks it has nothing to say, and that is the intended behaviour rather than a fault.

It is not a system of record. The school's portal is the authority on your child's grades, and where the two disagree the portal is right and Studea is wrong.

You must be an adult, and you must be the parent or guardian of the child whose record you connect, or otherwise already entitled to see it. Connecting a portal you are not entitled to read is not permitted, and doing so with somebody else's credentials may be unlawful where you live.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anybody you invite into your household. Invite only the other parent or guardian.

By connecting a token you authorise Studea to read your child's record from that portal as you, on a schedule, until you revoke it. Studea only reads. You may revoke the token from your own portal at any time, and doing so needs no permission from us.

Keep the token to yourself. Anyone holding it can act with your permissions at your school, which is a good reason not to paste it anywhere else.

Studea is in active development and is provided as it is. It can be wrong, it can be unavailable, and a school portal can change in a way that stops it working without warning.

The assistant writes in ordinary language from the records it holds, and it can misread them. It is not a teacher, a counsellor, a doctor, or a lawyer, and nothing it says is professional advice of any kind. Check anything that matters against the portal, and speak to the school about anything that matters a lot.

Notifications are best-effort. They depend on your device, your browser and your operating system, and none of those guarantee delivery. Do not rely on Studea to be the thing that tells you about something important; rely on it to notice things you would otherwise have missed.

Nothing, while it is being built. There is no card, no trial counting down and nothing to cancel. If Studea ever costs money you will be told before it does, not after, and never for a period you have already used.

• Do not use Studea to gain access to a record you are not entitled to see.
• Do not attempt to reach another household's data, or to work around the limits that keep households apart.
• Do not automate, scrape, or resell it.
• Do not use the assistant to produce something abusive about a child. It will refuse, and the account may be closed.

You can stop at any time: revoke the token, delete the account, or simply stop opening it. We may suspend an account that is being used against the section above, or close the service down — and if the service is closing you will be told in time to get anything you want out of it.

Studea is provided without warranties, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it — including a decision made on the strength of something it said. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

If these terms change materially you will be told inside the app and asked to agree again. Carrying on using Studea after a change means you accept it.
